Grovel
At 7am this morning rain took over Sydney. The beach was deserted and there was a knee high wave crumbling at South Bondi. I’ve seen it better. Had to shoot most of these images from my car. Back to work…you’re not missing anything down the beach today. For the next 3-4 days you won’t find […]

S I Z Z L E
As far as weekends go that was the biz. The past two days have just been exquisite beach days. Barely any wind, perfect temperatures and clean, warm water. This morning was no exception…but we could do with a few good waves aye? You would’ve missed last Friday’s swell if you blinked. There is a bit […]

Straight horizons
The clouds are slowing clearing and it is nice and calm down the beaches. Bondi barely had a wave. Knee choppers. It will warm up to 26 degrees today before rain and cold weather tomorrow. Tomorrow the waves are also tiny. Saturday there should be something for you to ride (head high). Phew. Good bye […]

Pop Up
Nice little surprise to find some waves down at Bondi this morning. At around 8am it seemed optimal. Little wind, shoulder high waves on a couple of banks. Not too fat. An hour later, around 9am it didn’t seem as good. Maybe that’s a sign to go to work. This week will roll like this: […]

Slop
Hola. There is still a little bit of swell left over and it seems to be getting into Bondi (2-3ft), but is pretty junkie. Thankfully the sun partially came out. Today will be 24 degrees, cloudy with rain later. Winds are E/SE 10-20 knots. The East wind is our nemesis – corrupting most beaches in […]

Onshaw
Guess what? It’s still blowing filthy onshore. North Bondi has some protection from the East nemesis winds, and a few little surfable(ish) waves. Nothing special though. Exposed beaches are 4-6 foot…just messy as hell. The forecast says tomorrow afternoon the wind will kick around to the NE. Finally some clean waves will be on offer […]

contrasts
It started out to be a cloudy, stormy morning. Bondi barely had a wave as the swell direction has flipped more to the East. Only hours later the sun is out bakin’ and there’s a 1-2 foot wave at East exposed beaches. It’s going to be like this for the next few days before a […]

indoors
I saw a dude paddle out at south Bondi, shortly to return to the beach dissatisfied with the whole ordeal. I then saw another lone wolf drift out in the middle of Bondi, copped a rinsing, then returned to the beach, off to work. Further north at Mirra Kirra (aka North Bondi), I saw 3 […]

Chunky closeouts
All this spectacular, chunky, East swell is wasted on us in the east. Nowhere is handling it well. Bondi faces too south and its hitting the beaches in the north end on a wrong angle – shuttin’ down. A brief browse through the neighbouring beaches and I didn’t see anyone get a wave that didn’t […]

Offsnore
After days of onshore bashing finally the winds are offshore at Bondi (NW/NE). Yes… offshore! So you don’t have to hide out at novelty harbour surf breaks and brave the exposed beaches. There is still very few options on the cards though…Bronte was all over the shop, Tama same same, South Bondi was very random […]

Waterlogged
Not much to talk about this morning. I mean, Sydney is still being bashed by rain and onshore winds. The only surfers out are at North Bondi – not sure if I’d call that surfing. With all this wind the ocean swells are rising. Tomorrow is the peak of it and 10 foot plus waves […]

Settle
Plenty of swell still around. The ocean has settled a little from yesterday’s wind-blown agitation – but not settled enough… Still bumpy and lumpy out there. North Bondi had some 1-2 footers…mid Bondi 3 footers and south end 4-5 footers. Winds are 8-13 knots of South Easterly. Tomorrow the winds should swing more around to […]

mirra-kirra
After last night’s strong winds the ocean is all angry and agitated. The swell direction has switched from the east to the south-east making it bigger at Bondi. At daybreak is seemed onshore, but by the time I left the beach (7:45am) it was SW offshore-cross. North Bondi, which rarely breaks has a little peak […]
