The Early Bird
It’s not often you’ll get a daily email from me this early – nup. I guess it’s a combination of no decent waves to photograph today and an abundance of early light for the insomniacs (me), so I’m ahead of my usual schedule. Yesterday the wind finally swung south, this is good. A) it means […]
booya.
Blimey, summer is sure havin’ a rough start. Rain and wind dominate the landscape this morning. Bumps down at Bondi were breaking 2 foot with some 3 foot junk. It’s onshore galore and not ideal for surfing…pass. Outlook – yep we’ve got swell, but plenty of wind. What you really want to know is when […]
S o g g y
There were good clean waves yesterday afternoon, but it’s not so great now. The rain also took the gloss off the morning. This week only improves from here on though…a new ground swell hitting tomorrow. Best days Wednesday, Thursday – Friday morning is looking real tasty. So I’d hang out until then. Rainy day Random […]
goodBONDI
Finally the rain stopped and the onshore winds have subsided. A neat little 2-3 footer is on offer at Bondi and there’s very few in the water (god ole’ quiet Mondays). A great day to paddle out…even if it’s only small. High tide 5:30am, low tide 11am, high tide 5:30pm. Winds NW/NE. Cold out, warm […]
Meeting request
Ok ok…so the cat is out of the bag. Surf is pumping and Sydney’s coastline has lit up with peaky, south swell, 4 foot gems. I must say its dramatically better now than when I shot it this morning. The rips are horrendous, but there are some great waves to be had. Have to go…um…to […]

I am not all that happy about the drop in morning temperatures but you know what winter brings – finely tuned south swells. Bondi loves the dead south (that would be 180 degrees for those with their protractors out). Nice little bump in swell earlier this morning, 2-3 foot and offshore winds. Large crowds out […]
Muggy
Ahh what a day. Nice, hot ‘n’ muggy. Max 28 degrees with light winds tending nor-easterly later. We still have a small east swell in town, it’s only 1 foot at Bondi and barely surfable, 2-3 foot at Maroubra. Not a lot of quality on offer – the 6:50am full high tide is concealing anything […]
Vivid
The swell is dissipating – and so is the rain – alleluia. Bondi had a weak, floppy 1-2 foot wave this morning – with a large number of people out. It’s not going to get any better for a while so best utilize what’s on offer with a large chunk of fibreglass e.g. Mal, Fish. […]
bullet points
Mighty fine morning out there. Today will go a lil’ something like this: The early morning high tide (8am) will conceal any current swell movements…(it’s only 1 foot and breaking on the weedy shore) Go for a swim, avoiding weed (say no to drugs) The sun will bake us to a balmy 28 degrees until […]
bumps
There is a little bump out there this morning…2 foot, sometimes a smidge bigger. Conditions were clean, still and humid. 2 peaks on Bondi were packed with early morning frothers. I saw some good ones, and a lot of not so good ones. Mostly weak and fat (burgers). Something cookin’ on Monday wavewise…but looks onshore. […]
foamballs
Bondi is a funny place. Regardless of surf conditions, get a few clouds above and you’ll have a deserted peak, crank the sunshine and 500 guys are paddling for the same wave. There are waves this morning – mostly between 1.8 foot and 2.3 foot…it’s messy due to last night’s onshore blow…but it’s orrrkay….especially when […]
Radiant
Yet another magical morning, warm, sunny and a small 2 footer trickling into the corner at Bondi. Plenty out, hopeful of a sneaky left. Winds are optimal NW as we head to a land maximum of 24 degrees. Waves are a lil’ weak, but fun. If you’re not sitting in your cubicle pretending to work […]
Running on empty
Yesterday’s one-hit-wonder-swell has ran out of gas. Bondi is probably the only place breaking this morning as it picks up all the fruits of a small south swell. In saying that, it’s only 1-2 foot, so nothing to get that excited about unless you weigh under 40 kilograms. I’d expect it to be pretty flat […]
