The northerlies blow, sun and crowds ram into the beaches (e.g. yesterday). The southerlies rock up, and it’s a ghost town (e.g. today). How good was yesterday; wow, Bondi and the surrounding bays were packed. Today, it’s cooler and threatening rain but deserted. No waves.
A big weekend is coming up for the LGBTIQ community as Bondi hosts a beach party for 15,000 revellers on Saturday night. You’ve probably figured that’s why there is fencing and scaffold all over the place right now.
At sunrise, Saturday February 24th at 6:30am, there’s going to be a Reflection service at Marks Park to celebrate how far we have come and to remember those involved in the homophobic hate crimes that took place in the park from the 70s to the 90s. More info
