Did you watch Kelly Slater nail it in the Volcom Pipe Pro yesterday? It was really quite something. The waves were good (finally), around triple head high and very hollow from a new swell. It was Slaters 66th tour win. Not bad for a guy that turns 42 next week. Well he DOES live right on the beach at Pipe and watches it all day long (when he’s not glued to Instagram). Loads of his late backhand drops were hands free…which you’d think it pretty impossible on such a wave.
This trip we’ve seen Slater everywhere on the North Shore, as if there were 10 of him. Every restaurant, sandbar, corner store…the 11 time World Champ would be roaming.

Slater is amazing. Of the 1000+ waves ridden by 130+ surfers during the pro, Kelly had the four highest scoring rides. Anyone know his record for the most high scores in an event on the WCT?
