I’m just up the road at The Superbank, aka Coolie. This place is a mecca for surfers, a hive of talented wave riders who dominate every wave along the Gold Coast.
Schools are out, and there are kids everywhere, as many are here to try their luck at the Australian Interschool Championships running over the next two days. Scots are running a team of their best slayers; some even pulled out of the bushes of Glengarry to compete with the country’s best.
Waves are small on the points but decent at exposed beaches (3-4ft). Everywhere is crowded, always is!
