Mental Monday

Everybody loves these mental days when the waves are gigantic and wild. I get asked how big – gosh, I saw sets in the 12ft+ range. The entire bay sometimes closed out as water ran up and hit the ramps. Icebergs was inundated whilst spray at Ben Buckler was at least 4 storeys.

Is it surfable? Maybe with a ski and if you’re a wild child. Perhaps head to Wedding Cake, Coogee. Harbour? Completely onshore.

It will be enormous for days, so settle in, rug up and wait for this all to calm down.

  1. There were two very brave surfers paddling in about 100m South of Ben Buckler around 11:00 this morning. I’m no surfer and I always get the wave height wrong, but my new surfer mate who was also watching the action thought the wave looked like five meters, 15 feet high. I saw it… amazing and very ballsy. Demitri was also down for a “swim”. Can’t believe the beach was open. Bring on tonight’s 2m high tide.
