La Plage

Grey start to the day, which seems to be lifting – slowly. Small little 2 footer down the hill at Bondeye. It’s clean and crowded.

At this stage it’s only a weak lil’ swell, coming from the south and accompanied by NW/NE winds. It’s surfable and good for a play…but nothing serious. (hint: ride a fattie)

ASMF2009

It’s Tim Bonython’s big night tonight – the premiere of his latest surf film festival ASMF in it’s 8th year. Tickets are still available for tonight’s show at the Randwick Ritz (starts at 7pm). This year’s theme is the Past, the Present and the Future. You’ll view some classics like the Hawaii Nine O series, Gripping Stuff, Biggest Wednesday, Download, Lost in Space & the Snuff…through to…some of the latest footage shot within Australia and overseas this year…to … some of the best junior surfers in the nation been towed into the biggest waves ever surfed in an event in this country. Buy Tix for 2nite

If you can’t make it tonight, or Randwick is too far for you bubble boy, the show hits Bondi tomorrow night.

Singles

You might have noticed the odd 70’s single fin creeping into the line up…well, The Beach Road Hotel Single Fin Classic is on again. The biggest event on Bondi’s Surfing Calendar is being held November 7th 2009. Entry is $40 and includes t-shirt, BBQ, entry pack, and presentation. It’s a mad day of retro surf threads, old boards, bad dance moves, and old school surfing. Entry forms need to be in by end of Day Tuesday 3rd of November – all welcome, but places are strictly limited. Spectators are also invited to bring a blanket and rock out on the hill with live band ‘To The Next’ playing as well as hot local DJ’s. To download an entry form go to www.bondiboardriders.com, or email ben@grandronde.tv for details.
