A thick smoke screen has smothered Sydney again this morning. I can’t imagine what it would be like up North where you’re actually IN the fires. This smoke is coming from a fire in the Hawkesbury region.
Shark alarms were echoing in the bay at Bondi around 6:20am. Two dudes said they saw a 2-metre Great White Shark swimming in the lineup at South Bondi. The lifeguards had the ski going and pulling people out of the water that resisted the alarm warning – that’s new!
I was delighted to see some decent rideable south swells. It looked slow, fat, but surfable. There’s a bigger NE swell arriving tonight, tomorrow should be fun. The smoke will be here until Friday when a Southerly will give us some reprieve.

I love your Photos!!! So pumped about your Photo night, just booked!!!!!!
Hi Ugene. FYI. I saw the shark (or maybe it was another one?) up close tonight at 7pm, when I went for a post work surf. It was a biggy. About a 3metre long Bronze whaler. Clearly brown in colour. It surfaced 3 metres away from me, and went under a Spanish long-boarder mate. He was slightly freaked, as you can imagine. The Spanish guy probs had a few beers tonight? I ran up and down the length of Bondi beach calling everyone out the water. Quite an amazing encounter with nature really. The Bronze whaler was really interested in us surfers, as it came so close to us tonight. Going to be riding a slightly longer board in the morning to feel safer. Stay safe peeps.
You left us out there andrzej- I told the team it was a dolphin alarm when we were about to dive in at 6:30pm 😉
