Fact: The best waves in Indonesia are usually lefts. It’s due to the physical orientation of Indonesia and how it relates to the South Westerly swell source.
On a boat charter, there is a constant divide between the natural footers and goofys – we’ve got a 50-50 split this year and the wolf pack go their separate ways for the day (fortunately we have both options nearby).
Some waves up here are so fast and critical, any advantage, like which way you stand on your surfboard needs to be taken. If you wanna get shacked, frontside is always much easier than backside. Well, that is for us mere mortals who are not surfing on the WSL!
We’ve got consistent medium sized waves up here with barely any wind.
Hope the rain has cleared back home in Bondi.
