There are 18,000 islands in Indonesia, and I’m doing my best to see them all. After a few nights on the “Peaceful Hill” (Amankila), we’ve relocated to a much more remote, quieter island called Moyo in Sumbawa, bobbing in the Flores Sea. They call this tented eco-resort the “Peaceful Forest” (or Amanwana).
The crystal blue ocean is the main attraction of Moyo, a 27-degree thriving marine life and coral ecosystem. There are no waves here, just plenty of fish, deer, wild boar and monkeys. Some of the best snorkelling I’ve seen was just 30 metres from our tent!
Moyo has a super dry interior, like a desert. Indonesia always surprises me with how different each island is in the chain. The island’s centre has a natural spring oasis, overflowing into a spectacular limestone waterfall and small pools.
Princess Diana visited Amanwana in the nineties and slept in our tent. Little did she know two feral Bondi surf groms would follow her steps. I get why she came here – it’s stunning and uber-private.
It’s surreal, being plopped in the middle of nowhere and pampered like royalty, as Aman only knows how. My boys reckon they’re not coming home. I shot around 3,000 images here in a day. There’s a lot.

This is the best description of the place I have ever read, really like to visit these magical and majestic looking blue water land. I would love to snorkel around those beautiful water with fishes.
