When those northerly winds blow for days, the ocean chills down. It feels like you can paddle out in your boardies until that first plunge under – brrrr.
It is a sensational day—twenty-six without a cloud in the sky. It’s been like this all weekend, and Bondi is finding its summer vibe. There are traffic jams along the main roads, a queue at the bus stop, not a park in kilometres, and a dozen people in swimmers in Woolworths. Ah, good old Bondi!
This morning, there were half-decent waves. They were inconsistent but fun. There were some really bowl bits and an empty sunrise lineup. I swam, but wish I surfed.
I’ve been doing these updates for 25 years – it’s embedded now in my DNA. It’s a free service morphed from a passion to relentlessly capture my favourite subject – Da Beach. If you’d like to grab the highlight reel of previous decades, it’s wrapped up in my latest book, “25 laps Around The Sun“. I’m so proud of it – it’s an epic book. We’re only doing one print run…secure yours now and support a local, family-run Bondi business.
