Today we’re doing something different, instead of loitering coastal, we’ve headed INLAND! Yes, out west. It’s a glorious day outside, clear skies, clean air which made for a good flight out to Warragamba Dam and back. All before you’ve probably had breakky…
Some of my observations from 1000 feet:
- The west was incredibly green with all the recent rain. I’ve never seen it that green, Fluro green. So different to when I did my aerial drought series in January this year.
- Warragamba Dam is full (Sydney’s primary water source). Correction, it’s overflowing! Whaaat?
- Did you know there was a cable ski water park out near Penrith?
- I also saw shipwrecks, with forests growing out of them, in Homebush Bay
- I checked on the progress of the Western Sydney Airport – coming along with an army of earthmovers. Ready in 2026.
- Do you know what a Golden Bell Frog is? I didn’t. It’s an endangered frog and his it’s own 550m ring walk, raised 18 metres off the ground to honour the little leaping critters. Now that’s different…it’s near Sydney Olympic Park
- Parramatta is getting big, construction everywhere. Didn’t know it was the geographical centre of Sydney
We live in a fantastic city. Good to get out of the bubble, explore and do something different. For Sydney adventure ideas – head on over to sydney.com

Great thank you
Cheers Charlie, was fun shooting this morning
A great idea to get up and see the scenery from this angle and the photographs have really turned out well.
THanks Steve!
Great photos as always. Was a nice surprise to see the Richmond one, never thought I’d see photos from my local area on your site 🙂
I am loving your take on west Uge, it’s incredible.
