Incredibly sad news from the weekend, a Russian man drowned off Flat Rock, North Bondi, after his partner was rescued.
I was down there moments before the incident, shooting and having a surf with my grom. I was watching the people on the point thinking that is extremely dangerous in a huge (unpredictable) north swell. You just can’t see it swing around the corner from the North. It’s tricky. See footage
I actually saw a set spray higher than Ben Buckler at one point – which is like 3-4 stories high.
People ask me all the time if Bondi really is dangerous like on the TV show – yes. It really is. And this weekend’s cyclone swell was a powerful one.
Today, classic sunrise with hits of pink. The waves were actually clean 3-4 foot and uncrowded under cloudy skies.
