I can remember back in 2005 when a local Bondi Lifeguard rocked up to my gallery and bounced an idea off me. He wanted to create a TV series on Bondi based around the lifeguards. “Yeah…that may work…will people really wanna see what’s happening in Bondi?” I said to Benny. Well 9 fruitful years of trillions of people watching Bondi Rescue has proved the idea to be gold! Ben is passionate about Bondi, lives in Blair St., Lifeguard + ex president of the Board Riders. Today I am handing over the reins for his take on Tamarama this morning…
It is both very impressive and very infuriating to see what good surfers can do in terrible waves. Bondi Boardriders’ best surfers were in the water at Tama this morning, blasting the lumpy backwash filled shore break. They’re in final preparation for the National Teams Titles (Boardriders Battle) this weekend at Cronulla. It’ll be live on Fox, but also live on the beach if you can make it over to Cronulla and support the team!
Today though, you don’t have to be a pro surfer to enjoy the conditions. The water is clear, warm, and just seems to be saying to you: “come and play with me”. Get down there!!!
Later. Benny Davies (guest writer)
