Today’s the last day of the road trip as we approach the Queensland border. A brief interlude with Byron Bay’s Tallow Beach (which was super fun and out of the wind) and the car is packed up and back on the road to Snapper’s Quiky Pro. It’s been a good week with decent waves wherever we pulled up. Byron’s pretty packed but interesting, whilst some of the remote beaches put on the goods. With the aussie dollar so high it’s tempting to go overseas for holidays and neglect what’s in our backyard…the East coast is pretty amazing, even if you don’t surf. You don’t have to go far from Sydney to find empty beaches…just need some time up your sleeve and some good tunes (preferably not Justin Beiber – the groms in my car can’t get enough of him – yep, they even do the little dance – weird I know – I’ll need counseling after this trip).
Take some time off and hit the road. Special thanks to Land Rover for the fancy wheels and making this trip possible…The video of our trip will be out next week.

love the slower shutter stuff Uge, awesome pics !
As much as one shouldn’t be too pedantic about these things, what Chris Friend is doing in the second shot isn’t an indy grab. Granted, it’s commonly, almost universally, mistaken for an indy but it’s not; it’s a frontside (nod to Tony Alva). Furthermore, his grab a few days’ back wasn’t a slob. That was a frontside too. By now, most people who have read the firrst three sentences of this post have dismissed me as having crossed the too pedantic line but as in any trade or profession, clarity is essential. In the shot above, had Chris been on his backhand, that would be an indy. In the shot from a few days ago, had he been grabbing the board with the other hand, that would be a slob. And now, I should probabaly get back to work.
Yeah I know I made a mistake with the slob, sorry about that. Whatever it is, it is a good air.
No doubt about that.
Drown out Biebs with some of your Celine Dion…
Great images from Byron. I live in Ballina and it seems that it has been raining for ever. I hope you enjoy your trip to Q’land.

Did you come across a place called Cabarita, in NSW near the QLD border? It was a small little town with a bakery at the time. Me and the boys did a trip from SA years ago, loved the place. Even a single picture from your trip of Caby would be appreciated.
