Good morning. (Selamat Pagi).
Lembongan Island hosts a few surf breaks but the best wave is Shipwrecks, a machined right-hander that has a barrel on the right tide, air section (if that’s your flavour) and a fat cuttie section – good combo. It can appear completely flat for most of the day, but on changing tides waves will roll in. It’s fickle, strong outgoing tides can drag you out to sea, incoming tides can surprise you with clean up sets. At low tide you may lose some bark on the very sharp reef bottom…especially on the inside where you tend to get a little greedy. The local crew can surf. Most of them weighing in less than 50 kgees and can paddle onto anything. They are keen, super keen so you will find them on the inside for most of the day – which is cool, it’s their home break. They love the camera, especially trying to do airs over me when shooting in the water.
It’s not huge at the moment over here, 2 – 3 foot and playful. Really good fun. Clear water too! Refer to first image of wifie.
Looks like swell is approaching Bondi this Sunday/Monday (just in time for my return)
Correction to yesterdays daily email, the Aquabumps Gallery is open 10am to 6pm (not 7pm) – every day of the week.

Hi Uge,
First shot is the same wifie that is the mother of your baby? Respect!
Love your shots from bali, can you give us some more shots of the lineups plz?
Btw. big fan of your website, always makes me hungry to head back to syd, when on holidays in germany.
Keep up the great work
Cheers
Awesome shot of your wifie….
Yew Sammy!
It actually the incoming high tide that creates the waves when Shipwreaks (and Playgrounds/Lacerations) are small i.e. 2-4 foot, due to the very strange tidal currents and tidal push from the deep channel between Lembongan and Bali. Playgrounds will not have a wave many days 2 hours either side of low tide and then jack up to head high + close to full tide.
No wonder the locals believe in black magic……..
