May the fourth was a cracker!

Seeya 2013

In keeping with Aquabumps tradition, the last update of the year shows my favourite shots from 2013. I barely traveled this year so it’s all about Bondi. Next year we are not having babies so I will be back on the plane visiting exotic waves and locations.

Special thanks to you all for tuning in. Can you believe 2014 marks 15 years of Aquabumps? Aquabumps is an original idea thought up in the nineties when everyone said it won’t take off. Back then sharing photos wasn’t easy (no social media – no blogs – nuttin’) so a daily photo email was the best vehicle and cutting edge. 50,000 people now receive this email newsletter all over the globe with a further 200,000 visiting the site. We also will tick over 100,000 fans on Facebook any minute now and interact with 30,000 insty addicts daily – that’s a lot of people! Thanks! Comment here to let us know where you are reading Aquabumps and tell us a story.

Special thanks to our major partners who help make Aquabumps free (and interesting) for you all – Audi – the best cars in the biz (including Audi Centre Sydney), Telstra for connecting us, Corona for lubricating me, Rekorderlig for bringing something different to the table and Canon (best lens, printers and bodies on the market). Not to forget my Aquatech and O’Neill buddies for kitting me out each season. Speedo, Mastercard and Havaianas have been great to collaborate with this year too. Also thank you to the Aquabumps A-Team who work furiously in the gallery when I am working on my tan, shooting pics down the beach – Tyson, Ant Dono, Mischee, Knack boys, Mrs Tan, Kelvin Khoo, Christian, Glo and Ange. You’re the best!

Ok last call out (promise). Want to buy our latest book for Christmas? It’s not too late, we will Next Day Post it to you…Buy Book.

Merry Christmas and look forward to our morning chats in 2014.

  1. Merry Christmas and all the best for 2014, Uge!! Bondi would not be the same without your beautiful daily mail of visual morning poetry!

  2. Uge
Rich gave us the beautiful Flynns Beach photo yesterday. It is simply gorgeous and will look great on the wall at Port with the lighthouse photo
Enjoy Christmas with your tribe and thankyou for your beautiful photos

  3. I get ure email & follow on insta & jst love the pics – they make me feel like I’m at the beach everyday rain, hail, windy, sunny or foggy! It’s calming when sitting at a desk all day! Reality check that there’s a lovely big world out there – and it’s bondi. My bondi! ❤️

  4. From Collaroy to Curl Curl to Dee Why to Wichita Kansas (don’t ask) to my current home of Chicago…. it’s been great seeing what’s doin’ every morning, south of The Bridge.
Cheers, have a decent Aussie beer for me, merry Xmas & wishing u a wicked 2014 m/

  5. Thanks for the pics Uge. We used to live in Mantown but have recently moved to the south of Sweden. No waves here. Your daily emails keep us connected with the beach vibe, it’s better than a bedtime story for our two year old daughter. Hopefully we’ll have some of your work on the wall when we finish renovating our home.
People always ask what Australia is like and it’s great to have you as backup if they can’t imagine the beauty. Their follow up question is always “why did you move?” and I just have to laugh.
I’m sure Swedish immigration to Australia is now on the rise.

  6. Thanks for the morning photos on these cold dark winter days in Stoke on Trent
England! They’ve kept me sane whilst waiting for my visa! ( which has now arrived 🙂 ) see you on Bondi soon x

  7. Hi,
Thanks for the brightness you bring every morning to the dark & cold winterdays in Vienna, Austria.
There so many lovely pics which help me during the day with a smile….and the wish to come to Bondi to see the sea and all these folks in real 🙂
    Maybe next year….will see….

Wish you and your team a Merry Christmas all the best for 2014!
    Keep on ridin´
    Chris

  8. Uge!!
Last year I was a lifesaver living the dream in Bondi. I couldn’t get enough of the place!! Now I’m living abroad in Edinburgh for a wee while and I live for my morning hit of Bondi via your emails, it’s about as good as my morning cup of tea to warm me up in this freezing weather! I love seeing my favourite place every morning and I’m spreading the word over here about your awesome blog to all the terrascottians!
If you decide to come to Europe over summer next year don’t discount Scotland, some truely spectacular beaches, obvs not as great at Bondi but not too shabby, just don’t forget a thick wetty or two!
Merry Christmas and happy New Year 🙂

  9. Up at Boomerang, locals know you from your occasional visits and now are regular readers.
Sitting looking at the North headland waiting for more than windswell to arrive.
Love your shots, patience and variety. Hope being a dad makes Christmas special. It does for me and my gang. I still have a 13yr old who gets excited by whomever brings the presents. He doesn’t discriminated.

  10. Uge, Merry Chrismas from a wet and cold New Jersey. The photo’s are particularly appreciated on these mornings………makes us wonder when we’ll be back however is a great advertisement of Aus when we forward it to American mates in the office.

    Good luck for 2014.

  11. Congratulations.
Found your site looking for Buoy info near Hawaii long ago
Thanks Again Mike in Phoenix, Arizona USA…………

  12. Hey Uge, i have a question…a while ago you were stating how you would never buy anything than a landrover..and Landrover were seeming to sponsor some of your trips..now it seems Audi are your favorite car? What happened to your old faithful car?

  13. Hi Uge!! three years ago I was in Sidney, watched your beautiful pictures and falled in love with Bondi…
From then on it’s really amazing for me to wake up with your daily email.
    Thanks and
    Buon Natale e felice 2014

  14. Merry Xmas to you and all the team – love getting my morning email photo inspiration for the day. love the gold coast beaches but lovin the bondi ones just the same. I look forward to 2014 images and visiting the store in Bondi 🙂

  15. Merry Christmas Uge !!!

My colleagues and I enjoy looking at your beautiful photos every morning over our first cup of coffee here in Surrey England. You see I grew up in Manly, later moved in to Surrey Hills for easy access to Sydney uni where I found myself regularly visiting Bondi’s beautiful beach, and now live in the beautiful English countryside, coincidentally in the Surrey Hills. And miss the beach terribly, so use your daily photos to quench my thirst for Sydney’s amazing beaches.

    Love ya work Uge

  16. Merry Xmas. I just wanted to thank you for your daily email full of amazing photos. I look forward to it every day and am a huge fan, as are all members of my family! 🙂

I took my wife there october 2013 to make her believe it is the best place on earth. am waiting for a baby coming very soon, so be going nowhere next year. but hope your pics will always keep bondi close to heart. all the best!

  18. Hello there Uge and Ugers! Merry post-Christmas and happy pre-New Year. From Barcelona, Spain would like to give thanks and praises for such a great year on Aquabumps. Congrats to all the team for making it happen…through the blogs, website, daily mail and insta it´s an all around distraction during the day. We dont have daily waves on the mediterranean coast but when the storm kicks we do get some good 3-4 footers. Ill blame a very good friend of mine who lived in Bondi for signing me up, It´s been about 6 years since I´ve been subscribed and ever since managed to convince people to signup also. Anyways, keep up the amazing work, keep living like there is no tomorrow and look forward to seeing you daily (except weekends). Hopefully will get down to Bondi some day soon 🙂
    Best wishes and bless!

  19. Nothing keeps me sane like your email does whilst im sitting at my desk out in the middle of Homebush West!!!!

Have an awesome 2014! Here’s to another 15 years with us and many more likers!!
