Hanging at Bondi, I was having major FOMO with all this ENE swell town. It’s like when your neighbours are having a massive party, and you’re at home, watching Wozzle heat reruns, drifting off to sleep at 8pm.
Basically, Bondi is facing the wrong way for the current swell setup. Go to a beach facing east, and wow, it was MUCH bigger this morning.
So the grom and I drove, early…and arrived downtown ‘Bra.
Maroubra means “good thunder” or “like thunder” in the language of its First Nations owners, the Muru-ora-dial people.
Today was celebrated with a stunning pink sunrise, which I documented around the local Rockpool. Waves were breaking in the 3-4 range, with a large, energetic crowd suffocating a solo sand bank. I hear it’s completely dropped now, as I write, but the old chestnut – should-a-been-here-earlier. Yes, I’m that guy!
