The surf has been a little fickle, so we’ve relocated to an idyllic part of the New Ireland island chain. Very remote, very blue and an ocean full of life. It’s like one giant swimming pool.
Every time we hit the water, the kids from the local village race out in their canoes. We could be surfing a point in the middle of nowhere, and there will be a kid, in a tree – cheering our every wave.
There’s still infrastructure around here leftover from the last world war. An airstrip here, machinery there.
Back in Bondi it looks small and calm. Later it will strike 33 degrees! Sounds like a beach day there too!
