The Good.
How good was Kelly at Pipeline in the first WSL event of the calendar? 5 days from turning 50, he takes out the event. Truly a freak of nature – just like the waves they’ve had in Hawaii recently – I’ve never seen such a good run of swell and I’ve sat on that beach for 5 weeks waiting for just one of two pumping days.
Wildcard Moana Jones Wong takes out the women’s event – only at the age of 23 years old (half Kellys age).
The Bad (and ugly)
BONDI – Mid – La-Nina – ugly. Ok, The east coast of NSW has had a horrible run of onshore conditions, really bringing the vibe down, in the middle of summer. Today we have scattered bi-polar showers, top of 25 and persistent onshore winds making a huge mess of our oceans. So when is the pesky wind stopping – WEDNESDAY! Write that into your diaries and work hard until clean conditions return.
