The shortest day of the year in the southern hemisphere is June 21, a few weeks away. That means the sunrise is late at this time of year. I sit on the beach on these cold mornings, waiting for the sun to peer over Ben Buckler, illuminating my subjects and, most importantly, making it comfortable for my morning swims! Oh boy, it’s chilly before it rises. Around 8 degrees, but wind chill would bring it lower to about 6. Whenever the southwest wind from the mountains rolls through town, it’s frigid.
The swell is tiny, and there’s a loggers wave on one bank at Bondi. It’s easy to ride and paddle onto without many people out (the cold always holds people back).
A sunny yet cold weekend ahead. Big south swell arriving tonight. It will be double head high tomorrow! Boom!
Have a great weekend; if you want to fill those blank house walls, see us @ Aquabumps Gallery 151 Curlewis Street Bondi Beach NSW 2026. We operate out of an old mechanics yard in the middle of Bondi Beach.
