The 8 am Dolphin Bondi show was cancelled, not a Flipper in sight at sunrise. It was amusing how many people came down in the hope to see another Dolphin festival – doesn’t happen every day aye…I’m down there every day.
This morning was quite unusual. Hear me out. In the south end, we had a furious rip, dragging south, real close to shore. Then 20 metres north we had another dramatic rip, dragging north…again close to shore. I felt like I was getting pulled apart on my morning swim/shoot. For a small day, I am always amazed at how powerful our Bondi rips can be. The good thing is those rips churned out a few rip bowls, it was cooking for about one hour. At 9 am I rode past the same spot – and it was off again. Fickle.
Currently 19 degrees with a top of 21. Sunny. Perfectly offshore, West 6 knots. Gabs won Rotto over Morgs. ENORMOUS swell arriving on Saturday flanked with south winds. I am talking about the biggest of the year so far.
