I’ve spent my life chasing waves in wild oceans. The Adriatic Sea is the complete opposite. It’s super calm with barely a ripple most of the time. It’s very different…
Its calmness does create ridiculous underwater clarity and opportunities to swim in caves, crevices and cliffs that would not usually be achievable with swell. Think about trying to swim around the back of Ben Buckler, the rough side – hide in a cave – you wouldn’t do it, right? Over here, that’s what you do all day long!
It’s also a boating mecca – there are boats EVERYWHERE. Conditions always seem to be windless and flat – so even a rookie can power a 200 horsepower rib in between islands. I thought the French Riveria was busy – this place is nuts. I understand this is the busiest week of the year here, so Hvar is cranking…and Carpe Diem Island is in full effect. Toot toot!
Those blues are like nowhere else on earth! Like swimming in blue velvet .
Great shots as ever Uge ..will be there next week. Can’t wait!
You always manage to catch something extraordinary in the world aquatic…thanks Uge! These pics are gorgeous
Fantastic shots today …just one thing there is a cave out of nth Bondi point called the cathedral …popular with divers to swim through but yes in calm seas.Enjoy the freediving …super jealous!!
