I just worked out that I’ve filed around 2,860 of these photo updates. That’s thirteen years worth of morning light. I feel tired just writing that. ‘Gotta say, I still really enjoy these mornings. East swell, loads of golden rays and small but fun 2-3 footers. The water temperature is holding onto its summer warmth – how good does 20 degrees sound?

This weekend our little buddy, Julian, across the bridge at Surfection Mosman is having a rather large wetsuit sale. The warm water won’t last forever so you’d best roll in to get a deal on a winter steamer! If you hurl profanities at him upon checkout I am sure you’ll get an even better deal. He likes that.

Small waves all weekend, 1, maybe to 2 feet on a very small human…nothing to get excited about

Oh…and my little mincer (Jet Wolfie Tan) is turning 1 tomorrow, he’ll be swimming out to shoot these morning pics in no time. No pressure of course. He caught his 1st wave on a surfboard over Easter.

  1. Just found your site through a friend on Facebook and I’m so glad I did.
What stunning photos you have taken and I shall look forward to viewing more.
    Regards
    Jacqueline

  2. is it just me or is that last picture kinda Darwinean – it ‘s reminiscent of the evolution of the species image

    1. I am the guy at the start of the evolution – should have straightenedd my shoulders to look less an ape like I guess !

      Nice thought though.

Who knows when Eugene is going to take a candid shot !

for Uge’s info – the fellas are – from the left Roger (me) Gary, Ken, Peter, and an unknown wahine in the background.
We are there most mornings swimming the beach – from the south into the glowing 6:30 haze – blinding as you swim into it.

Enjoy your daily reports Eugene – thanks – its nice to be part of it once.

  3. Thanks for getting up early and sharing those thirteen years of morning light with us Uge – making our’s a little brighter. And a very happy 1st Birthday to Jet!!! hope you had the camera ready for his first wave…

  4. 2-3 foot today – c’mon!! Take that shot of Simon aka Sharkie at Bronte for example – let’s be conservative and say Simon stands 5ft tall, i reckon the wave is two Simon’s tall which makes it 10 Foot!!

    1. You’ve opened the “how to measure wave height” tin of worms…I gave up 20 years ago after debating the topic non stop with school mates – measure by the face or the back. The safest way I reckon is to say it was head high or waist high, double head high etc.

  5. hey uge, beautiful morning of waves, but maybe some more pics of the bodyboarders? saw them on their own getting some pretty decent barrels on the inside!
