Like most other mornings I rolled down the hill to see what was on offer down the beach. ‘Not much’ pretty much sumed it up. It was still and quiet, the rain persuading most to stay in bed for the late sunrise. A small, rideable, weak and flimsy 1-2 footer wave broke inconsistently at South Bondi. Best suited to newbies. Tomorrow should be better, I hope. Pray for swell people.
Dion
Big Dion. You all know him. How could you miss him? He’s a permanent fixture down at Bondi beach. Not sure if it’s his all year round deep Africa dark tan or that he’s 6’6” and looks like he just walked off the movie set of Gladiator… but one thing I bet you didn’t know about Dion is that he’s a very talented modern art sculptor who specialises in metal work, right here in his little shed on Francis Street. Love the ‘roky’ looks like he is praying for sunshine
I am not a local but when I was last at Bondi with my old man we both saw Dion running past and both just though “What a bloody unit of a man”! sounds like a decent bloke as well.
Great catch in ‘Going for a swim’: that first dive into the waves . . .
