Shooting good images on a day like today can be a little tricky. There’s barely any light and most photos turn to a wash of grey. Morning rain isn’t the best shutter lubricant either. Most waves I saw this morning closed out before anyone could get to their feet. Shame, ‘cause there is plenty of east swell. I bet the midday high tide will slow the straightenhanders and sprout a decent wave. Around the corner at exposed beaches it looked real messy and deserted.
Seeing you’re all about to spend the summer on the beach it may be a good idea to read Doctor Bob’s (aka Dr. Rip) new book “Essential Beach Book – everything you need to know about surf, sand and rips”. Titles says it all really. He’s the scientist that pours dye into the Tamarama rips showing their ferocity. Look
