4 things I like (a lot) about today:
- I won’t waste words – surf is pumping. 3-4 foot. Clean. Consistent. Good right in the south of Bondi. Good left and right in the middle. Mini tube section off the southern right towards the inside. Bigger tomorrow arvo (like 5 foot) yeoow.
- It’s offshore. Love those winter Westerly winds.
- Sunrise – talk about a cracker. I rate this morning’s sunrise to be the best of the year so far (insert froth). You might look at the sunrise shot today and go "yeah it’s alright", but the best of today’s sunrise shots are on giant panoramic film 6×17. For 6 months I’ve been shooting on film for my next exhibition – 1st light. If you came up for a chat whilst I was shooting this morning and I was busy fiddling with a vintage pano camera, sorry…kinda gotta focus when you’ve got 5 minutes of joy sunrise to capture and that camera is completely manual.
- Soul Riders films are on at North Bondi RSL tonight featuring snow flicks. 7:30pm start. 5 bucks entry. 1st flick ’91 Words for Snow’ then The ‘Process 4’. Dazzla reckons its like the ‘Sprout’ equivalent in snow.
3 things I like about running the Aquabumps website:
- You stick in a request for an Aquabumps Bean Counter yesterday and you get 34 emails of interest in less than 24 hours. Are you all accountants out there? Would I get the same response if I asked if anyone has a 200 foot super yacht and wants to sail around the world surfing?
- Your mates ring you at 6:15am to scream down the phone about a phenomenal imminent sunrise. Basically ’cause you’ve been whinging about how bad the sunrises have been this year – when it actually ’cause I’m still in the rack.
- Mystery packages rock up to my PO box full of goodies. Books. Mags. Music. Clothes. Children’s toys. Wax. Leggies. I love it. More pls. PO Box 3418 Tamarama 2026 NSW
3 random things – just cause.
- Local surfer Robin Austin and his wife Vanessa are about to drop their 1st bub. So instead of Robin just dropping in on you every morning, you’ll have to hustle with another frothn’ grom. Please don’t call it Ian.
- The Colour Ball "Green with Envy" is on this Saturday night at Museum of Contemporary Art, The Rocks Sydney. Cost $150 a ticket. Cocktail party. Big crew. Proceeds go to help Redkite supporting children and their families through cancer. www.redkite.org.au
- If you are doing the City to Surf this weekend, or are just in Bondi on Sun. – the Aquabumps Gallery is open 10am to 4pm…and you never know, there may be beers and tunes to celebrate the predicted 23 degree sunny Sunday. Come all. Map
