So far we’ve had a pretty bad run with conditions – rain and storms everyday, and a small swell chugging into these sharp reefs. Today was looking a lot more optimistic with a 4-5 foot soft right breaking metres away from a tropical paradise. Palm trees line every island… its like heaven. Swell is on the up…and it looks like the next 4 days will be the goods. We’re motoring all night to find better waves…
There is currently 30 charter boats patrolling this area chasing waves…we’ve come across Americans (majority), Brazilians, Argentineans, aussies and a large contingency of South Africans. There is more tork amongst these boats than a WHO mag…here’s a sample: a few weeks ago Sunny Garcia and his Hawaiian mates we’re given a naval escort out of the region after having a brawl with a boat load of Brazilians. Rasta and mates are currently up north awaiting swell – heard they’ve scored nothing up there so far…Jack Johnson was just out here in the playground region staying in a new land camp…not to mention the gun slinging American kneelo convention that seem to rock up at every break.
